    Total Quality Management Plan for Middle School:

     

    •  Benchmarks - The following schools/systems will serve as benchmarks: River Trail, Webb Bridge , Northwestern, and Brazlesport. River Trail, Webb Bridge and Northwestern are schools within Fulton County . They are the top 3 schools in the county in CRCT scores (see appendix). Brazelsport will provide a benchmark on how to create change in a divided county similar to Fulton County .

    •  Committees within the School -

    •  Local Steering Committee ( Local School Council)-

    • i. Members- Principal, 2 teachers, 2 parents, 2 community members, 2 students.

    • ii. Purpose- Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement, monitor progress, and develop a plan for continuous improvement. View of entire school/community. .

    •  Local Quality Teams-

    • i. Leadership Team-

    •  Members- Principal, CSTs, Counselor, Department Heads, Team Leaders

    •  Purpose- To make decisions within the school that affect the whole school. To monitor continues improvement.

    • ii. Grade level teams-

    •  Members- All teachers on the grade level.

    •  Purpose- To handle process decisions that just affect the grade level.

    • iii. Content area teams-

    •  Members- All teachers within the content area.

    •  Purpose- To be monitor progress in content area. To identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement and to bring them to the Local Steering Committee as necessary.

    • iv. Cross curricular teams-

    •  Members- One teacher from each subject area. All members teach the same group of students.

    •  Purpose- To monitor closely student growth and improvement. To review data and look for opportunities for improvement.

    •  Data Collection-

    •  Self assessments on process

    • i. Teachers will be regularly assessed or interviewed as to their perception of the process

    •  What resources do you need to do your job more effectively?

    •  What processes can be improved to make you a more effective teacher?

    • ii. Students will be regularly assessed as the ultimate product of the school is student achievement.

    •  weekly informal and short (5 question) formal assessments

    •  every 6 weeks there will be a longer formal written assessment and performance assessment

    •  teaching is responsive to student performance on assessments

    •  students are treated as individuals and move at the pace that is appropriate for them

    •  Evaluation - The plan will be evaluated for its success based on student achievement and teacher attitudes based on interviews and assessments.

    •  Weekly Staff Development- in the process of continual improvement the staff will have weekly staff development sessions based on their perceptions of need and the student achievement data.
